Updated: Dec 8, 2025

How Our Holistic Approach Helps Families in Crisis At Options180.co.uk, we understand that families in crisis need comprehensive support that addresses all aspects of their well-being. Our holistic one-stop approach aims to create a safe and inclusive space where families can rebuild and strengthen their relationships, ultimately leading to better outcomes for vulnerable children and their parents. One of the key aspects of our approach is providing a bespoke range of services to meet the diverse needs of families that we work with. We work closely with partner agencies and as a multi-professional team offer a suite of support and assessment services all under one roof. Our offer includes, expert witness independent social work parenting assessments for families involved in pre-proceedings and/or private or public family law proceedings - these can include Parent Assess or PAMS specialist interventions; bespoke counseling for children, young people and adults, as well as attachment based interventions, such as Video Interactive Guidance, (AVIG-UK) by a qualified counsellor who is VIG trained. We deliver a specialist evidence-based community substance misuse and parent change recovery and teaching programme to parents seeking recovery from alcohol or drug use while improving their parenting skills. This is an intensive intervention delivered over 6-12 weeks incorporating an eclectic suite of therapeutic interventions working towards abstinence alongside parent training, using Triple P, Strengthening Families techniques. We constantly seek ways to innovate and offer creative responses to changing needs. We have recently started to deliver Family Mediation to separating couples to help minimise a child's exposure to harmful parental conflict. We provide a mentoring and advocacy programme to any parent engaged with statutory children's services, seeking to be empowered and supported with sufficient information and guidance through the process. This is delivered by qualified and highly experienced independent social workers with extensive local authority experience. Research tells us that empowering parents and carers builds confidence in the parenting task as well as improving the collaborative relationship and helping the child to have a voice. This helps families build resilience and the skills and confidence they need to create a stable and nurturing environment for their children. We endeavour to minimise disruption to families, especially the child/ren's routine and ensure all interventions take place with the child remaining in the care of the parent or carer accessing support, where this is deemed safe. Our family-friendly times enable parents to manage their childcare or child contact responsibilities while accessing our services. We understand that juggling parenting duties can be challenging, especially for families in crisis. By offering flexible scheduling options, we aim to reduce barriers to accessing support and ensure that parents can prioritize their children's well-being. We are in the process of developing practical social work tools and parenting kits to further our service aims to delivering positive outcomes for the children and families on a wider reach basis. Do get in touch if you want to sign up to our newsletter soon to be launched for regular updates.
